Yep, we're bracing for what could be a record snow blizzard that's suppose to hit the Chicagoland area and suburbs sometime Tuesday afternoon (2/1) through Wednesday afternoon (2/2). What a way to usher in February. They say we could get as much as two feet of snow; and if that happens, it will break the record of the Chicago snow storm of 1967...23 inches. I can only pray they are wrong...or at least that it's not as bad as they're thinking.
It's all over the news, and they've been talking about it for several days... predicting that the snow will increase and become heavy at times Tuesday afternoon...gradually spreading into northern Illinois by Tuesday evening. It will continue Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Northeast winds of 25 to 40 MPH with stronger gusts will result in blizzard conditions developing Tuesday evening and continuing through the overnight hours. Snow accumulation in excess of a foot are expected over much of the area and localized totals in excess of 18 inches are possible...especially near the lake. (I'm not that far.) Snowfall rates of at least 2 to 3 inches per hour are possible...and white-out conditions are expected at times as very heavy snow and strong winds result in blizzard conditions. Conditions will rapidly deteriorate with travel likely becoming virtually impossible at times Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to fall so heavily at times, that plows will be unable to keep up with the snow...with many side streets and untreated roads becoming impassable. (and impossible.)
WOW! I'm depressed already.
I went to the grocery store today for a few things because once the snow hits...I'm not going anywhere. It became pretty obvious that a lot of people were thinking the same way I was...the store was humming with people stocking-up for the onslaught.
What a friggin' nightmare. I'd say moving south sounds better and better; but there's no guarantees there either. I have some relatives who live south; and they've been complaining of brutal weather too. I guess insane weather conditions have been hitting us all....Global Warming?? I need a new snow shovel.
In Tokyo, a man who was on the lam for two years and was wanted for the murder of a British woman, cut off his lower lip with a scissors, dug two moles out of his cheek with a box cutter and gave himself a nose job in an attempt to obscure his identity.
The disclosures are in a book that will be released soon and was written from jail by Tatsuya Ichihashi, who will stand trial later this year in the murder and rape of his English teacher.
After escaping the police who came to his apartment to question him, he bound up his nose with a thread and needle..like a cook trussing a piece of meat...to make it narrower. (Ouch, ouch, ouch)
At first the 32-year-old Ichihashi wandered around Tokyo and then drifted north, where he tried twice to cut off part of his lower lip to make it thinner. The first time, he couldn't follow through because of the excruciating pain. (No Kidding...but hey, he already sewed up his nose!!!) He finished it up a few days later in a public bathroom. I hope no one was around to witness his butchery.
I guess when you're desperate...you'll try anything; and this guy was beyond desperate as far as I'm concerned. Geesh, I get nervous clipping my toenails.
