I think everyone knows what Origami is…. the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. The goal of this art is to create a representation of an object using geometric folds and crease patterns preferably without the use of gluing or cutting the paper, and using only one piece of paper. I posted some Origami art a while back in one of my posts.
Bending, twisting, and folding, he creates life-like shapes in AMAZING detail. (Click on photo to enlarge)

**Update....I have deleted the pictures of the renovated garbage truck after finding out through a friend of Won Park's that he does not live there. Apparently it is some kind of rumor and those pictures are not where Won lives. One of those things that happens on the internet; but nothing I want to keep generating. Thank you Joseph for this information. I appreciate it. ~Joy

I've seen that paper folding art before. It is really quite intriguing. The Japanese seem to be so talented when it comes to unique artistic abilities.
As far as the garbage truck vacation cottage, I can smell the scent of garbage just looking at the photos. LOL Now ain't that weird?

Hard to pick a favorite, but the two dollar spider is very cool.
As far as the living arrangement it sure beat being in debt.

It sure beats being in debt is what I meant to say. Guess that's why you have a preview button. Maybe I should use it.

I am impressed with everything, but I think the camera and dragon are my favorites.
Such organization. A place for everything and everything in it's place. I could live like that. (But I don't) ;-)

Someone sent me the photos of the truck, but I didn't know who owned it. WOW!
I love the origami; the animals are terrific!

That origami is so unusual. I so admire creative minds.
I think better yet is the garbage truck. We have a couple in our church who for a while lived in a fifth wheel. Jean said when they sold their house to do that they ahd to get rid of "stuff." She said that it was one of the most freeing things they had ever done. And, as you said, no property taxes to pay.

When I was a kid a Japanese family lived in our neighborhood. The oldest daughter (she was maybe 2-3 yrs old than me) taught me how to fold an origami crane. I can still make that crane... more than 40 years later, but it's nothing like those masterpieces.
I love coming by here. I usually come away with a wonderful childhood memory. Thank you!

Pretty good stuff. I like his "home."

One of my most nightmarish moments was an observation by my Principal where I was to teach an art lesson in Oragami. It was probably my second year of teaching. I was to demonstrate and help 30 eight year olds make peace cranes. Suddenly, I forgot a step and was quickly confusing all 30 restless kids. We made boxes instead. I told them we would make cranes the next day and we would put them in the boxes. Whew - I dodged a bullet with that one and even my Principal was impressed with my quick thinking.
Thanks for jogging my memory. Now I think I will go out and rearrange the motorhome to look like a garbage truck. LOL

OMG. My sister is going to freak out over this. I just did! Very cool. Thanks for posting this, Joy.

Great Stuff. I've got my work cut out for me. I received lots of ALL NEW SHAPEs. THANX 4 the info.

Well that's a first! I've never seen a garbage truck converted into living quarters. Wonder what kind of gas mileage he gets???
I think we all need to learn origami such as he does, because seems that might be all our dollar will be worth using for in future years.

Joy--When my husband retired, one of his co-workers gave him a one-dollar-bill turkey and a one-dollar-bill elephant. Those are two dollar bills that won't be spent as long as either of us lives. The friend had spent several months on his back, recuperating from surgery, so he took up the art.
Cool garbage truck; but, those things are not cheap. I cannot see the license plate, but I'm betting the vehicle is registered in Texas or some state that has low/no personal property taxes on vehicles. The personal property taxes in our state (KS) would eat the owner alive! WIWAK, our family lived in a "house" that my dad built on the only vehicle he owned, a flat-bed Ford truck. It wasn't as stylish as the garbage truck, but we enjoyed the experience.

It's not a garbage truck. It's a specially designed off-road camper:

And, knowing Won Park, I doubt he lives in one.
Posted by: Joseph Wu | November 18, 2009 at 11:30 AM
And he's not Japanese. (Nor are most origami artists)

Well, I guess someone had some misinformation. I guess you would know since you know Won Park. Thanks Joseph for clearing that up. It's a cool camper nonetheless...and Won's origami is still beyond AWESOME!!
And if you're the one who added that last little tidbit of info...thanks again...always good to have more input. ~Joy
