Grandma's Revenge

(I came across this piece that I've had for a long time....thought it definitely was worth sharing with you.  It had no author, and didn't even have a title...so I made one up.....Enjoy!)

1mothersday2thumb_2When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,

And bring so much happiness...just as they did.

I want to pay back all the joy they've provided;

Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!

(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.)

I'll write on the walls with reds, whites and blues.

I'll bounce on the furniture while wearing my shoes.

I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.

I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!

(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.)

1hands47thumb When they're on the phone and just out of reach,

I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.

Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,

And when that is done, I'll hide under the bed!

(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.)

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,

I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.

I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,

And when they get angry...I'll run...if I'm able.

(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.)

HappyivgI'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click.

I'll cross both my eyes just to see if they stick.

I'll take off my socks and throw one away,

And play in the mud until the end of the day!

(When I'm and old lady and live with my kids.)

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh.

I'll thank God in prayer, and then close my eyes.

My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,

And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"

(God Bless All Grandmas Everywhere...and you Grandpas too!)

This definitely sounds like a plan....of course it won't happen until I'm an old lady....many, many years from now.3878520_3a07d84927_m

Thanks for sharing Grandma's revenge.
In my case, can we call it mothers revenge???

That's cute - an inspiration.

Thanks - I'm planning to share that with a couple of email buddies.

Thanks, Joy, just what I needed today!

Hi Joy!

Wow! Simply love this poem.

"When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run...if I'm able."
I recalled exasperated moments with mum...wishing I could chuckle that off today!

This is too cute. Guess what kind of greeting I'm sending to my kids this Christmas -- this very threat and maybe I'll send them a Christmas gift containing gayly wrapped p.j.'s, soft slippers in my size, and a new tooth brush that says, "please store in a safe place until I get there." Sounds like a lovely plan to me.

Dear Joy ~~ Wonderful post that I have read before, but it is such a good one. I liked the "if I can run"
bit. Great idea to send a copy to all our kids for Christmas. Thanks for the idea Roberta S. Hope al is well with you my friend. Have a
wonderful weekend. Love, Merle.

Now I understand better why you were happy to exchange visits!
I think your nickname should be Exuberant Gran or something - but that's too long. Joy is one of my favourite names, by the way.
The poem is great, too. Are you familiar with A.A. Milne's poems Now We are Six? Someone did a spoof called Now We are Sixty which has a bit the same tone as the poem you quoted here.

Oops! i strayed over by accident from Going Like Sixty's blog - that's why the beginning of the above must seem like double Dutch to you!
Visit me?

Sounds like a great plan! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, yes. We plan to sell our home, move into a camper van and park outside the children's homes in turn. 'Hi, we've come to visit!!!'

This is just too cute not to "borrow." Now if you will excuse me, I have to go pack! Hehehehehe, only kidding.
